M.S. Safety Management / MBA Dual Degree
The Master of Science in Safety Management / Master of Business Administration (MSSM/MBA) dual degree is offered through a long-standing partnership between the School of Business Administration (SBA) and School of Health Sciences (SHS) at Oakland University.
As the first MSSM/MBA dual degree in the United States, this innovative program prepares graduates to become leaders who not only advance the safety of people, property and the environment in the workplace, but have the global understanding and business knowledge to become executive and senior managers.
Through the dual degree program, students can complete both an MSSM and MBA in three years due to an overlap of coursework, whereas both degrees separately would take four years or more to complete.
The MSSM/MBA dual degree consists of advanced environmental health and safety (EHS) coursework that focuses on safety administration and analysis, research and risk management/loss control, as well as key business topics, such as accounting, human resources, legal aspects of business and more. When you earn an MSSM and MBA, you will be prepared for careers as a safety leader in private, public or non-profit organizations. By integrating global understanding and business fundamentals that are key for manager success, you will be equipped to pursue executive and senior management positions.
