Health Sciences

Make a difference in people’s lives, the community and the world with a Health Sciences (HS) degree within the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences. Our programs combine basic science, social science and health science courses to provide a generalized, health-focused academic experience. You’ll be prepared for a career that improves people’s overall health and lives through a broad range of disciplines, and for a variety of professional health programs.

With the Pre-health Professional Studies (PHP) concentration, you’ll receive a generalized, health-focused academic experience that combines a broad spectrum of courses that prepares you for a variety of health careers and professional programs.

Holistic Health (B.S., Concentration)

Integrating principles of conventional and alternative practices, the Holistic Health (HH) concentration serves as a first step towards a wide variety of employment opportunities in health.

Minor

The minor in Holistic Health (HH) integrates principles of conventional and alternative practices so that you will be prepared for opportunities in private and clinical holistic care centers. Coursework centers on lifestyle changes and self-care to promote wellness through diet, exercise, mental health and spiritual awareness. This minor is open to any Oakland University student.

Pre-Pharmacy (B.S., Concentration)

Pharmacists work in a wide variety of public and private settings, such as community pharmacies, hospitals, long-term care facilities, pharmaceutical companies, managed care organizations and government agencies. The Pre-pharmacy (Pre-pharm) concentration provides you with both clinical and patient-oriented coursework that prepares you to meet the academic prerequisites necessary to be considered for admission to Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) programs.
