Biography:
Joseph Duncan received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Wayne State University in 2014, his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2019 with a focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner and accomplishment of a graduate certificate in nursing education (GCNE). Though formally educated as a nurse practitioner, Joseph continues to find his passion at the bedside as a registered nurse in the emergency setting - with additional credentialing through the Emergency Nurses Association and Board of Certified Emergency Nurses.
Joseph has experience leading clinical groups in various settings, and has led didactic courses in pharmacology, pathophysiology, assessment, and medical-surgical nursing. His didactic and clinical approach to education are firmly rooted in the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM), which he believes guides students to think critically about the moment, while simultaneously allowing them to build anticipatory guidance for predictive delivery of care in the clinical setting.
His scholarship has focused upon improving the onboarding of newly hired nurses through unique academic-professional partnerships, as well as high-stakes clinical preparedness & simulation training that guides nurses through the initial stages of cardiac arrest events.
