The Academic Success Center offers coaching programs designed to help students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and navigate the challenges of college. Through individualized support, students work with a coach to set goals, develop effective study strategies, connect with campus resources, and create a plan for success. Explore our programs below to find the support that fits your needs.
Empowering First-Generation Students to Thrive at OU
Eligible first semester, first generation students are invited to participate in Connect+, a semester-long coaching program designed to support first-generation students as they navigate their college journey.
Students in Connect+ meet with their assigned success coach 3 or more times in their first semester. Success coaches partner with the student to provide holistic, individualized support including:
- Navigating the transition from high school to college.
- Building college skills such as time management, study strategies, and goal setting.
- Connecting with relevant OU resources to help them succeed.
- Working toward their individual goals.

GrizzFIRE stands for Facilitated Intervention for Resilience in Education.
Eligible first-year students who have faced academic challenges are invited to participate in GrizzFIRE, a semester-long academic coaching program that provides intensive, ongoing support during a student’s active semester.
Students in GrizzFIRE meet with their assigned success coach 3 or more times in their first semester. Success coaches partner with the student to provide holistic, individualized support including:
- Making a study schedule that works for them.
- Connecting with relevant OU resources to help them succeed.
- Practicing study strategies that match how they learn best.
- Developing a clear idea of their motivation and purpose for being in college.
- Working toward their individual goals.
The program is offered in the winter semester, and priority is given to first-year students on academic warning. There is no financial cost to the student.

Students working to get “back on track” meet with an ASC coach 3 or more times during their active semester. Success coaches partner with the student to provide holistic, individualized support including:
- Making a study schedule that works for them.
- Connecting with relevant OU resources to help them succeed.
- Practicing study strategies that match how they learn best.
- Developing a clear idea of their motivation and purpose for being in college.
- Working toward their individual goals.
