ADVISING SESSIONS

The School of Nursing offers an accelerated program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for second degree students. The course of study combines general education in the humanities and the social, biological and natural sciences with education in the theory and practice of nursing. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam. This is a full time, 12-month program. Only second-degree students are eligible for admission.

Each year, the School of Nursing has the opportunity to offer the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program at Riverview Institute. Students are admitted to three cohorts per year including fall (September), winter (January) and summer (May).

Admission to Oakland University as a Pre-Accelerated Second Degree BSN (major code 7008) is required in order to be eligible for admission to the School of Nursing.  A separate application is required for admission to the Accelerated Second Degree BSN Program following completion of prerequisite courses. See the informational flier for details.

Students must be in good standing at the University to qualify for admission to the School of Nursing. Note that completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program. School of Nursing applications are processed when the applicant has all pre-nursing coursework completed. Admission into the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program is competitive. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

See the informational flier for full details on pre-nursing coursework and admissions deadlines.
