Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

For almost five decades now, Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has been at the forefront of all engineering disciplines in technological innovation, resulting in one breakthrough after another. Automated control systems, computers , electronic devices and instruments, microprocessors, medical imaging, radar, radio, telephone, television, and wireless communication have transformed our lives, automated our factories, shrunk our world into a global village, and extended human reach to farthest corners of the universe. ECE represents one of the most challenging, dynamic, and rewarding engineering professions today.

Undergraduate Programs

The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree with separate majors in Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Engineering (CE). Both majors are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The latest ABET General Review was conducted successfully in 2008 and both EE and CE programs received the maximum possible accreditation of six years till 2015.

Graduate Programs

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers Master’s programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, and System Engineering. It also offers a mainstream doctoral program in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as a multidisciplinary doctoral program in Systems Engineering (under the common umbrella of the School of Engineering and Computer Science).

Research

ECE faculty are actively engaged in research related to new developments in their fields. Their current areas of research include Applied Electromagnetics, Autonomous Mobile Robots, Biomedical Engineering, Communication Systems, Control Systems, Computer Hardware and Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Medical Imaging, Microelectronics, MEMS/NEMS and Nanotechnology, Nonlinear Systems, Pattern Recognition, Signal Processing and Image Processing, and Robotics.
