Biography

Jessica Rico is a Special Lecturer in Writing and Rhetoric at Oakland University, teaching WRT 1020, WRT 1050, and WRT 1060. Her teaching background spans a wide range of subjects, including composition, academic literacy, developmental writing, oral communication, media writing, and art appreciation. She has taught at multiple colleges in metro Detroit before joining the faculty at OU, her alma mater. 

Certified in Inclusive Teaching and Mental Health First Aid, Jessica centers her teaching and research on relationship-rich pedagogy, anti-racist practices, and equitable learning environments. Jessica believes in building community and an interactive classroom. A passionate reader and lifelong learner, Jessica is always eager to connect with students and share a great book recommendation.
