OU Medical Pathways Program

Students who have earned the required GPA (either high school GPA or transfer GPA from other higher education institutions) are eligible to apply to the program after being admitted to OU (must meet one of the following). 

1. First-year students must possess a 3.7 or higher cumulative high school GPA. A student is considered a FTIAC if they have not attended any other higher education institution after their high school graduation.
2. Transfer students must have earned a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA at their previous institution(s).
3. Students who do not meet initial eligibility requirements may join the program by earning a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA at Oakland University.

OU Medical Pathways participants who meet the following criteria will be guaranteed to receive an interview for admission to OUWB.  

• Possess a minimum 3.50 Biology, Chemistry, Physics, & Math (BCPM) GPA
• Score at least a 503 on the MCAT 
• Complete a minimum of 400 combined clinical hours (excludes shadowing)
• Complete a minimum of 400 combined community service hours
• Have participated in the OU Medical Pathways Program (see Participation Criteria) for a minimum of two full academic years
• Receive a recommendation from Medical Pathways adviser(s) (Note: In order to receive this recommendation, you must meet all participation and requirements of the program, follow the recommendations of our pre-professional health adviser, and have a positive relationship with our pre-professional health adviser).

If the above criteria are met and the student’s application is received prior to September 1, they will receive their guaranteed interview invitation prior to November 1.

To meet the requirements of the OU Medical Pathways Program, all students would need to meet the following requirements.

1. Attendance at Pathways Information Session
2. Completed application and be formally admitted to OU Medical Pathways Program
3. Workshops/Webinar Attendance
   • Getting Started Workshop/Meeting
   • Application/Test Prep Workshop/Meeting
   • Personal Statement/Experience Writing Workshop/Meeting
   • Attend an OUWB/OU Medical Pathways Admission Webinar 
4. Individual Pre-Professional/Health Meetings
   • Annual individual advising meeting and reflection
   • Assessing Readiness Meeting
   • Review Drafts of Personal Statement and Experiences
