International Students and Scholars

Welcome to the International Students and Scholars Office!

Reach us at isso@oakland.edu for general questions or to schedule an appointment with an international adviser.

Get your questions answered at a weekly ISSO Shares via Google Meet every Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, open to all international students and scholars. Once a month, we host an additional ISSO Shares on the first Friday at 1:00 PM. Check your Oakland University email for more information.

If you are seeking an appointment for employment (CPT, OPT, OPT STEM), please note that these appointments are only scheduled after you complete the online process and application. For CPT, OPT and OPT STEM, you must:

  • Review the Employment page (REQUIRED).
  • If you need further assistance, attend a weekly ISSO Shares session (currently held on Google Meet every Thursday from 1:00 PM -2:00 PM) to get questions answered. Also, at the beginning and end of each semester we will have dedicated OPT and CPT sessions. Check your email for those dates.
  • Fill out the CPT, OPT or OPT STEM forms and gather the required documents. All forms and required documents can be found on the Employment page. Once submitted, the ISSO will send you an email confirming submission and steps for an appointment. ISSO will only schedule appointments after we receive a completed application from you and approval from your academic adviser or the Graduate School
