The executive vice president for Academic Affairs and provost is the chief academic officer for the university. The provost oversees the  academic schools and the College of Arts and Sciences, Kresge Library, and offices related to research, undergraduate and graduate education, the Eye Research Institute, institutional research, international enrollment management, and Registrar.

The chief of staff serves as the senior advisor to the President and is responsible for recommending policies and practices and other matters to the President that promote the excellence and success of the university. He oversees the university’s strategic plan and builds collaborative relationships across the entire OU community to advance the university’s mission, vision and strategic goals. The Chief of Staff also provides leadership and oversight for the Office of the President, University Human Resources, and University Technology Services.

The senior vice president for Student Affairs and chief diversity officer provides leadership and supervision for all leaders who oversee the functions, programs, services and activities related to student services. The Division of Student Affairs & Diversity includes the following units: Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Services, Office of the Registrar, Dean of Students Office, First-Year Advising Center, Orientation and New Student Programming, University Housing, Oakland Center, ID Card Office, Career Services, Disability Support Services, Graham Health Center, OU Counseling Center, Academic Success CenterStudent Technology Center, Center for Multicultural Initiatives, Gender and Sexuality Center, Veterans Support Services, Office for Student Involvement, Pre-College Programs/Community Engagement, Project Upward Bound, and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Director of Athletics provides leadership for the university's 19 varsity intercollegiate sports. Competing in Division I of the NCAA, Oakland is a member of the Horizon League.
