The Department of Teacher Development and Educational Studies (TDES) offers undergraduate and graduate programs designed to prepare students for careers in K-12 teaching.

All TDES faculty began their careers as teachers in the K-12 setting prior to earning advanced degrees. Our mission is to facilitate the pursuit of life-long learning through exemplary programs, the integration of research with practice, and the advancement of theory and knowledge. This is evidenced through our many academic accomplishments.

TDES has a strong working relationship with the Departments of Human Development and Child Studies, Reading and Language Arts, and the Office of Professional Development and Educational Outreach. The College of Arts and Sciences supports our elementary education and secondary education programs in many ways.
