Distinguished leaders to be awarded honorary degrees

For outstanding achievements in their respective fields, Sheilah Clay, Joanne Danto, Robert J.Gibbs, Jane Houdyshell, J. Michael Kosterlitz and Sheldon Yellen have been selected to receive honorary degrees from Oakland University.

Reimagining OU

The purpose of the Reimagining OU initiative is to find ways to position Oakland University as a thriving higher education institution, while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the university’s operations, and further fostering a strong identity and university culture.

Oakland University first D-1 school to add varsity esports team in Michigan

Oakland University has become the first Division I university in the state of Michigan to formally announce the addition of a varsity esports team to its athletics program. The team will begin competition in the fall of 2020. The University also announced a unique partnership with Team Renegades, a professional esports team based at GameTime in Auburn Hills.

WNBA MVP, Olympic Gold Medalist Lisa Leslie to keynote annual Keeper of the Dream Awards

Oakland University will welcome three-time WNBA MVP, four-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie as the keynote speaker for its annual Keeper of the Dream Awards Celebration on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 20, 2020.

Matilda was inspired by steel pioneer and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, quoting him that she wanted to provide "ladders upon which the aspiring can rise."
