English
With a degree in English, you can apply your skills in writing, research and analysis in a wide variety of professional settings.
English majors are well-prepared for advanced study and careers in education, law, library and information science, medical professions, public relations, and publishing. You also have the opportunity to prepare for a career in teaching English at the secondary level with the Secondary Teacher Education Program (STEP), leading to a recommendation for certification to the Michigan Department of Education, as well as several teaching minors available. The department also offers a major in creative writing.
