Exercise science is a rapidly growing field at the forefront of health care, with research constantly revealing the power of fitness in preventing disease. Our exercise science degrees equip you to work with a diverse range of individuals — from athletes seeking peak performance to patients recovering from surgery or battling chronic illness.
Oakland’s combined bachelor’s and master’s in exercise science program takes you further, preparing you for leadership roles. Potential career paths include:
Our B.S. in exercise science provides a strong foundation in the science of movement. You’ll examine the ”why“ behind exercise, exploring how it impacts weight control, disease prevention, stress management and even peak performance through proper nutrition. This multidisciplinary program draws from biology, chemistry, physics, psychology and engineering to give you a well-rounded understanding of the human body, paving the way for a practicum where you’ll gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting.
Then, you’ll build on your bachelor’s degree with focused coursework as you earn your M.S. in exercise science. Our program is strategically divided into three core areas: exercise physiology, biomechanics and motor control. This in-depth exploration alongside internships and research equips you for advanced roles in clinical practice, research or academia.
