EMERGING LEADERS

Emerging Leaders is Oakland University’s premiere leadership certificate program. Designed to take highly motivated first and second year OU students, participants will develop their skills to be future leaders at and beyond the University. Designed to accommodate cohort of 30 students, this program kicks off with a Leadership Retreat and orientation event.  Students will network with successful alumni and student leaders, exploring leadership content and activities in smaller groups.

Following the Leadership Retreat, students have the remaining semester to select from a variety of workshops and campus events that will allow them to develop and reflect on individual strengths and weaknesses. Advisors will help students discover leadership opportunities on campus to gain hands-on experiences that stand out among the rest.

Students will track involvement to develop a co-curricular transcript that will help them prepare for future internships and jobs. The entire program will utilize experiential education and learning-by-doing, and is designed to help students step out of their comfort zones and connect on campus, while still having fun in the process.

IGNITE LEADERSHIP RETREAT

Ignite your leadership skills during this one day "free" leadership retreat. Open to all OU students, Ignite will help students discover, understand, and apply their leadership skills at Oakland University and beyond. This program is specially designed to connect you with all the resources that Oakland University has to offer to help you become a successful leader. At IGNITE you can expect to meet and network with other student leaders, meet OU faculty and staff, receive information about campus activities, services and resources, and participate in exciting team building exercises.
