Joe Zerilli

Marketing Graduate Assistant, University Recreation & Well-Being

Joe Zerilli brings creativity, curiosity, and a storyteller’s flair to the University Recreation & Well-Being marketing team, where he serves as the Marketing Graduate Assistant. A proud Golden Grizzly, Joe earned his B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies from Oakland University and is currently pursuing his M.A. in Communication, strengthening his ability to craft meaningful narratives and compelling content.

In his role as Marketing GA, Joe works closely with Rec Well’s student marketing team and the Coordinator of Marketing & Communications to turn ideas into impactful campaigns that elevate Rec Well’s presence across campus. He helps develop, refine, and implement departmental marketing objectives—contributing to brainstorming sessions, messaging strategy, and polished final deliverables.

Joe manages social media content organization, posting schedules, and audience engagement, ensuring each platform stays lively, on-brand, and full of personality. He also supports analytic reporting to track platform growth and guide future strategy. Beyond digital work, Joe assists with departmental events and major marketing initiatives while helping produce both digital and print media, including graphics, facility signage, promotional materials, and banners.

He oversees marketing student employee projects by offering editing feedback, ensuring brand standards are met, and helping students bring their creative ideas to life. Joe also contributes to video campaigns, short promotional clips, TikTok creation, and the coordination of Rec Well’s Student Influencer team—supporting training, scheduling, and outreach efforts. Additionally, he develops program surveys to measure learning outcomes and identify areas for enhancement.

Armed with strong AP/APA writing skills and experience in Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Adobe Audition, and Premiere Pro, Joe enjoys creating content that resonates with the OU community.

When he’s not building campaigns, you’ll find Joe enjoying tabletop and video games with friends and family—always with plenty of laughs and a competitive spark.
