Sports and Recreation Program Coordinator, University Recreation & Well-Being
Kyle Reece brings energy, experience, and a genuine love for sport to his role as Sports and Recreation Program Coordinator at Oakland University. With a B.S. in Sport Management from Eastern Kentucky University and an M.S. in Sport Management from Sam Houston State University, Kyle has built his career around creating fun, competitive, and welcoming recreation experiences for students and community members alike.
He brings more than seven years of professional experience in collegiate recreation, shaped through key leadership roles across multiple campuses. Kyle served as the Coordinator of Intramural & Club Sports at Curry College in Milton, MA for 2.5 years, where he expanded competitive opportunities and strengthened student engagement. He also worked as the Coordinator of Competitive Sports at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY for 2.5 years, overseeing a large intramural program and supporting a diverse range of club sports organizations. Before that, he spent two years as a Graduate Assistant of Intramural and Club Sports at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, gaining hands-on experience in program management, sport operations, and student development.
Kyle is CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, a CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, an MHSAA Licensed Football and Baseball Official, and previously served as the MIRSA State Workshop Host Committee Chair. His professional accomplishments have been recognized through awards including the 2017 MIAA Newcomer of the Year Award (Football) and the 2025 Dr. Michael Stevenson Scholarship Award. He is also proficient in Innosoft Fusion.
When he’s off the clock, Kyle enjoys walking his dog, Rocky, and experimenting with new—often spicy—recipes. His goal at OU is simple: build community, create fun, and ensure everyone has a great time playing.
