Dan Hohn

Coordinator of Facility Operations, University Recreation & Well-Being
Armed with a B.S. in Recreation Management from Western Michigan University, Dan brings more than three years of energy, expertise, and hands-on experience to keeping Rec Well facilities running smoothly. Before joining Oakland University, he built a diverse and well-rounded background across parks, fitness centers, and community recreation settings—gaining skills that now shape the high-quality experiences he delivers every day.
Dan began his career as a Parks and Recreation Intern with the Comstock Township Parks and Recreation Department, where he helped support community programs and facility operations. He then served as a Parks and Forestry Operator with the City of Birmingham’s Department of Public Works, maintaining and beautifying parks, trails, and public spaces; operating heavy equipment; preparing sites for concerts and sporting events; and assisting community members with questions and concerns.
At Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Dan worked as a Recreation Assistant, issuing equipment, completing documentation, inspecting returns, maintaining inventories, and keeping recreation areas clean and organized.
He went on to serve as Facility Operations Assistant Manager at Lifetime Fitness, where he maintained club spaces, trained staff, coordinated event setups, conducted pool checks, managed inventories, created daily reports, supported hiring, and assisted with budgeting and payroll. As a Facility Manager at Anytime Fitness, Dan expanded his skill set further—marketing the club, giving tours, signing new members, managing data, and building strong customer relationships.
At Rec Well, Dan uses tools like Fusion, WhenToWork, and Musco Lighting to schedule and create safe, clean, and welcoming spaces for students, employees, and community members. He is Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him disc golfing, working out, gaming, enjoying time with friends and family, or cheering on his favorite Detroit teams.
