An alumnus from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine is in national and international headlines today after taking the reality TV world by storm Wednesday.

Haramol Gill, M.D., OUWB ’15, appeared on the “Love Is Blind” reunion show, which first became available on Netflix on March 11.

According to Netflix, the show is a reality dating series “where singles seek emotional connection and get engaged without seeing each other, testing if ‘love is blind.’” Previous reports indicate the show is regularly viewed by millions.

Gill was among the men who appeared on season 10.

In his bio, Gill is identified as an E.R. doctor who “knows how precious life can be – and now he’s searching for someone to spend the rest of his (life) with.”

“My job and my life have deep purpose, so it’s hard to find time to date,” he said in the bio.

Gill earned an undergraduate degree in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Neuroscience from University of Michigan in 2011, according to his LinkedIn bio.

As a member of OUWB’s charter class, he graduated from medical school in 2015.

He appeared in some of OUWB’s first promotional videos. In one, he talked specifically about the culture of OUWB.

“If there’s one word that kind of sums it up really well, it would be ‘family,’” he said in the video. “It truly is like that here … we’re always helping each other out no matter what is going on.”

“We have a lot of fun here, too,” he said with a smile.

Gill successfully matched at Duke University in emergency medicine. He was an emergency medicine physician at Duke until 2024, when he moved to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Season 10 of Love is Blind featured men and women from Ohio, primarily the Columbus area.

“AHHHHHHHHHH H!!!!! OUWB IS ALL ROOTING FOR YOU!!!!” Eric Raynal, M.D., OUWB ’17, wrote on Instagram when Gill announced he would be on the show.

During the show, men and women sit in “pods” the size of a small room and talk to each other through special walls. After dating for about two weeks (or less in some cases), couples that form tight enough bonds get engaged. Afterwards, they go on a special vacation and live together briefly. Some couples have beautiful experiences and end up getting married at the end of the show. Others … do not.

Gill ended up initially not getting engaged, which led to very little screen time.

However, the big reveal Wednesday was that – after filming — he had started dating Jessica Barrett, D.O., a woman from the show who is also a doctor.

The news was made even more impactful by the kind words he used during the reunion show to describe Barrett and his strong affection for her.

His sentiments were especially meaningful because they came after she had been treated horribly (at best) by her original “match.” Social media generally reacted positively.

“You had us all crying at that reunion! So glad you snagged a true Queen in Jess,” follower littlemisslunchblox wrote on Instagram.

“I’ve never heard someone speak so wonderfully about another human being and it literally brought me to tears. I can only hope someone speaks and genuinely feels that way about me … wishing you guys the BEST,” wrote michiganfolkknits.

“The absolute sweetest thing to happen on this show in foreverrrrrrrrrrr,” wrote yourbestiemisha.

Since airing, Gill has been in countless news stories by the likes of Cosmopolitan, The Mirror, and more.  Swooon.com even had a story callled, "Who is Haramol Gill? Meet 'Love Is Blind' Star Jessica Barrett's New Boyfriend."

Subsequently, the couple provided an update to People Magazine.

“We’re very committed to each other and making sure we’re doing well and I’m sure good things will come from that,” he said.

He added that there currently are “no big plans as far as the future goes.”

“But I think that’s how it should be,” he added.

Gill could not be immediately reached for comment.
