Rationale:

To ensure the health of students and provide fair and equitable access to educational resources for all students.

Scope and Applicability:

All students enrolled in the School of Medicine.

Standard Practice Guideline:

Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB) students experiencing environmental sensitivities in normal educational environments (e.g., laboratory activities) will be referred to the OUWB Office of Student Affairs for initial triage. Students will follow the necessary steps to seek appropriate accommodations (refer to Disability Accommodations).

Procedures:

Students anticipating or experiencing environmental sensitivities while engaged in learning experiences at OUWB, or who have been previously diagnosed with environmental sensitivities, should:

  1. Schedule a meeting with the OUWB Director of Academic Success and Career Development to review the accommodation request and approval process.
  2. Students will be informed of the necessary steps to obtain accommodations (refer to Disability Accommodations) at Oakland University.
