Duties:
Supplemental Instruction Leaders conduct organized study sessions focusing on course-specific study skills, key concepts and test preparation.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled OU student in a degree seeking program
  • Second semester freshman standing or higher
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (B) in the course(s) you want to lead
  • Expertise in content areas and learning skills
  • Adequate demonstration of time/task managing skills
What else?
  • Mandatory training prior to start of the semester.
  • Work begins on the first day of class for the semester.
  • SI Leaders attend class, take notes, plan and conduct 2-3 SI sessions each week.
How to apply:

Duties:
Study Group Leaders plan and conduct weekly study sessions for a specific course. 

Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled OU student in a degree seeking program
  • Must be second semester freshman standing or higher
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (B) in the course(s) you want to lead
  • Expertise in the content area and learning skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
What else?
  • Attend training before starting the position
  • Attend professional development meetings

Duties:
Peer Tutors help Oakland University students clarify homework assignments and course content.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a currently enrolled OU student in a degree seeking program
  • Second semester freshman standing or higher
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (B) in the course(s) you want to tutor
  • Expertise in content areas and learning skills
  • Adequate demonstration of time/task managing skills
What else?
  • Must complete 10 hours of training towards tutor certification.
  • Schedules are based on availability.
  • Hired as a Peer Tutor.
  • Need is in math, chemistry and physics.

Job Description:
The Student Office Assistant (SOA) welcomes students, faculty and staff to the Academic Success Center. The main purpose of this job is to greet people as they enter the Academic Success Center. SOA's also register students that come in for tutoring or to use other resources. The SOA also helps students make appointments or view the tutoring schedule in our online system. A Student Office Assistant must have good phone etiquette, be friendly and helpful.

Duties:
  • Greet and assist everyone who comes into the Academic Success Center
  • Register students coming in for tutoring
  • Basic clerical responsibilities
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled OU student in a degree seeking program
  • Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Friendly and helpful
  • Good phone etiquette
  • Flexible hours (must be able to work both days and evenings)
