Carol Perry, M.M.

Carol Perry, M.M.
Applied Instructor, Voice
Carol Perry (she/her) is passionate about fostering long-term vocal health, selecting repertoire based on the needs of the individual singer, and promoting equity and inclusion for underrepresented composers. She prides herself on cross-training the voice, so students learn the skills to sing classical works alongside pop, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial music.
Carol holds voice degrees from the Frost School of Music and Colorado State University. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and trained under Margaret Baroody in the 2017 NATS Intern Program in Toronto. She is also certified in Meredith Colby's NeuroVocal Method.
Students from Carol’s private studio have gone on to place first in both musical theatre and classical categories at NATS competitions, and have earned performance degrees from esteemed institutions such as McGill University, Boston University, the New England Conservatory, and the University of Michigan. Several alumni are working professionally on and off Broadway.
In 2022, she was the keynote speaker at the Chadron State High Plains Festival. She gave a recital “No Boys Aloud: Works by Women,” held interactive workshops and masterclasses, and advocated for more female and BIPOC composers to be taught in school. Most recently she was honored to perform Lori Laitman’s song cycle “The Years” with the composer in attendance.
Equally at home in the classroom as well as the stage and studio, Carol has taught college level courses in Vocal Techniques, Aural Skills, and Singer’s Diction. Her teaching evaluations consistently praise how she finds unique ways to make learning engaging, up-to-date, student-led, and inclusive for everyone.
When she isn’t teaching or singing, Carol can be found birdwatching.
