Career Studio

Drop-in to the Career Studio to work on career-related tasks with a Career Ambassador.

We’re here to help you get started, make final touches or answer career-related questions. Work with us as soon as inspiration hits and receive in the moment consultation as you create the perfect resume, cover letter or profile.

Career Ambassadors can help with: 

  • Developing or finalizing your resume/cover letter
  • Preparing for an upcoming Career Services event
  • Standing out in an interview
  • Branding yourself on LinkedIn and Social Media
  • Navigating Handshake

We recommend that you drop-in with your laptop, so you can work in real-time on your resume, profile or cover letter with a Career Ambassador. 

*If you need a laptop, rent one from Student Technology Center.

Optimize your career future by scheduling an appointment with your Career Consultant or a Career Ambassador. Our staff is trained to assist you with all of your career-related questions. Make an appointment online via Handshake.

Schedule an Appointment

Scheduling Instructions
  1. Login to your Handshake account

  2. Click Career Center in the navigation bar and select Appointments

  3. Select Schedule a New Appointment at the top of the page

  4. Select your school or college. Contact us if you do not know your school or college

  5. Select the type of appointment that best fits your needs

  6. Browse the available appointment slots and click on the one you would like to schedule. Not seeing the staff member you’re looking for? Narrow the appointments by staff member using the drop-down option at the top of the page labeled Staff Member

  7. Click on the appointment time that you’re interested in scheduling

  8. Select the appointment medium you prefer (e.g. email, phone or virtual appointment)

  9. Tell us about upcoming interviews or any questions you might have in the What can we help you with? section

  10. Click Request and you’re all set! Remember to keep an eye out for any emails regarding your appointment
What kind of appointment do I need?

First-Time Visitor: Undergraduate students visiting Career Services for the first time are required to meet with a member of the Career Ambassador Team. Career Ambassadors are trained members of the Career Services Team prepared to offer guidance on resumes, career fair preparation, social media, Handshake and more!

Resume/Cover Letter Review: Provides feedback and suggestions to strengthen your resume or cover letter. Be sure to bring a paper copy of your resume or cover letter if you schedule this type of appointment.

LinkedIn/Social Media Branding: Work with a Career Services team member to create a killer LinkedIn profile that will help you build connections and leverage LinkedIn as a networking tool. Please be sure to bring your updated resume to the appointment!

Job Search: Need help with creating a job search strategy? Would you like to learn more about resources available for conducting an effective search or strategies for negotiating job offers? Meet with a member of the Career Services team for tips on how to take your job search strategy to the next level.

Career Fair Preparation: Meet with a member of the Career Services team to prepare for an upcoming career fair. During this appointment you will work on targeting and researching potential employers, elevator pitch and how to navigate the event.

Gaining Career-Related Experience: Meet with a member of the Career Services team to create an effective internship search strategy, identify ways to gain meaningful experiences and relevant skills, and negotiate internship offers and timelines.

Mock Interview/Interview Preparation: Practice your interview skills with a member of the Career Services Team. During this appointment you will practice responding to sample interview questions, build upon your behavioral interviewing skills, and identify strategies to help you make a positive impression on an employer.

Alumni Career Coaching: Meet with a member of the Career Services team for resume review, mock interviews, job search strategies and more! Be sure to bring an updated copy of your resume.

Each Career Consultant is trained to assist a specific population of students based on their school or college.
