Oakland typically notifies undergraduate students of an admission decision within 12 weeks after all application materials (application, transcripts, and supporting documents) are received. Please note that if you complete your application less than four weeks prior to your intended term of entry, it will be prioritized for processing and an admissions decision will be made as soon as possible.

Freshman Students – High school graduates who are entering college for the first time.
Transfer Students – Students who have attended one or more post secondary institution before applying to Oakland University.
International Students – Students who plan to attend Oakland University on a student visa (F-1) or an exchange visa (J-1).
Second-Degree Students – Students who have a BA/BS or equivalent degree and want to obtain another undergraduate degree.
Post-Baccalaureate Students – Students who have a BA/BS or equivalent degree and want to take additional courses not related to an additional degree.
Guest Students – Students who currently attend or are eligible to return to another college or university, and would like to temporarily enroll in OU courses, typically for the purpose of transferring them back to their home institution.
Home School Students – Students who completed high school through the home-school process.
Dual-Enrolled High School Students – High school students who wish to take courses at OU prior to graduation.
Return to Learn Students – Students who have been out of school for two years and do not have a postsecondary degree.
GED Students – Students who have obtained high-school diploma equivalency through the GED process.
Veterans – Students who have served on active duty; are members of the National Guard or Reserves; and dependents of a veteran who is either deceased or 100% disabled due to military related injuries.

Readmission –Students who have been away from Oakland University for 6 years or more and wish to continue their education, or who have been academically dismissed. The Academic Skills Center facilitates the readmission process.
If it has been less than six years since you attended, you should meet with an academic adviser in your area of study. You can use your Grizzly ID number to reset your SAIL pin and NetID password so that you can register for classes. If you do not know your Grizzly ID number, contact the Registrar's Office.
