How to Report an Incident
Oakland University has a number of resources to ensure a safe and equitable environment for all students, faculty and staff. If you have experienced or witnessed an incident that you would like to report and are not sure whom to make the report to, do not worry. Choose any resource and we will make sure your report reaches the appropriate team.
Concerning Behavior Report
Report concerns involving a campus community member experiencing mental health challenges, life stressors, or substance abuse, including behaviors such as depression, self-harm, suicidal ideation, aggression, or difficulties with housing, finances, or medical needs. Additional support is available through Oakland University’s Assessment and Care Team (ACT) , which provides a coordinated, confidential response to complex or ongoing concerns.
Sexual Assault and Violence
Sexual assault and violence include a range of unwelcome sexual behaviors that occur without clear and voluntary consent. This can include verbal or nonverbal harassment, conduct that creates intimidating or hostile environments, and acts of sexual violence. Such behavior may involve coercion, pressure, or abuse of power and can have serious emotional, psychological, and physical impacts on those affected.
Academic Concerns
Fill out an Academic Affairs Assistance Request Form if you have concerns about a university academic policy or concerns about academic matters involving an individual or department. Examples of concerns can include but are not limited to student or instructor bias in assignments and unfair treatment.
Campus Safety and Security
Report any crime or crisis to the OU Police Department, available 24/7 and accessible through emergency blue light phones across campus. They also offer SAFEwalk escorts and a designated Safety Zone at P43 for secure online transactions. In the event of an emergency dial 911 on campus phones or dial (248) 370-3331 on cell phones.
Title IX
Make a report to the Title IX Coordinator if you experience or witness an incident of sexual harassment, sexual violence, stalking, dating/relationship violence or discrimination based on sex, gender, sexual, sexual orientation, or pregnancy.
Internal Audit
If you have any concerns about a policy violation committed by an OU employee or supplier you may file a confidential complaint with the Internal Audit department. Examples of complaints include (but are not limited to) conflict of interest, financial misappropriation, and policy issues involving suppliers. All complaints will be investigated.
