Introducing the Glenn McIntosh Leadership Award

Friday, February 13, 2026

Dear faculty, staff and students,

The late Glenn McIntosh, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer, set the tone for how we care for one another at Oakland. He had a remarkable gift for making you feel the sun was always shining and your potential was limitless. I often think of Glenn’s creed of living each day with passion, purpose and perseverance. In that spirit, I am writing today to share one way we will honor him and carry on his legacy.

Glenn McIntosh headshotAs part of our annual employee recognition awards, we are launching the Glenn McIntosh “Passion, Purpose and Perseverance” Leadership Award. This award will recognize an Oakland University faculty or staff member who advances student success, strengthens our campus community and embodies the compassionate, principled leadership of our dear friend Glenn.

Glenn served Oakland University for more than 30 years as a visionary leader known for his integrity, empathy and unwavering commitment to students. His leadership was transformational, marked not by titles or authority, but by his ability to inspire, empower and lift others to their highest potential. He was a “glue leader,” someone who brought people together and guided our community forward through his example, wisdom and love for students.

All full-time or part-time Oakland University faculty and staff members are eligible for the award and may be nominated by students, colleagues, supervisors or administrators. Please see the award webpage to learn more about the selection criteria and to submit a nomination.

To have known Glenn was to encounter a force for good: compassionate, understanding and with a deep love for people of all backgrounds and experiences. May this award always remind us of the powerful example he set — and how all of us can be the force that makes the world a better place.

Sincerely,

Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, M.D.
