Oakland University Credit Union Building Dedication

Thank you to the Oakland University Credit Union for welcoming me and the OU community to this truly historic occasion – the dedication of the OUCU regional office building.
Congratulations to April Clobes and the OUCU leadership team.
Your accomplishments, today and over the years, have benefited many Oakland University students, faculty and staff that you serve through your timely and innovative financial services and products.
This beautiful regional office building is a few blocks from our I think many of us would agree that there is a bridge, perhaps undetectable to the eye, that connects our history, mission and values.
That bridge is our enduring partnership.
The foundation of credit unions is built on the principle that a union of members can achieve a better standard of living by being part of community that pools together their savings and makes loans affordable to its neighbors and co-workers.
It’s a model of democracy and an exemplary relationship of people working together for the common good.
In many ways, it’s the ideal that we strive to accomplish at Oakland University.
We, too, work tirelessly, inspired by the principle that through higher education, people can raise their standard of living.
And we, too, are dedicated to providing opportunities and fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, as we work for the common good.
Today, we congratulate OU Credit Union on your success, and your dedication to a truly democratic principle at the heart of your mission.
