Role on the Board: Board of Visitors Chair; member of the Engagement, Nominations, Outreach & Philanthropy Committees. Member of the We Are Here!, Homecoming Planning Committee & Moceri Mentors Program.

Why I joined the board: It has been my distinct pleasure to work with Graeme on many projects during his tenure as the Dean of the HC. His energy, advocacy and vision have secured the HC’s reputation as THE honors college to attend for anyone desiring to seek knowledge and virtue at the highest level. Therefore, I jumped at the opportunity to work with an incredibly creative, talented and enthusiastic group of individuals who share my passion and dedication to the students of the HC. We strive to be meaningful advocates and mentors for the next generation of HC scholars and empower them to dream, achieve and leave indelible impacts on the world. We want to expand the breadth and depth of opportunities available to students and build on the great work that has already been accomplished by the leaders that came before us.

Best HC memories: I think of the great late night discussions my friends and I shared in the HC lounge, fortified with treats left by Jan. The impromptu music concerts and life lectures hosted by Brian Murphy and his amazing wife, Toni Sanchez Murphy, who inspired us to dream, follow our passions and to venture outside of our comfort zones. The glimpse into the awe-inspiring Honors College Council members afforded to student representatives to the committee. The riveting HC classes we had at Meadowbrook Hall and the hotly debated topics we covered in the business ethics senior class co-taught by Frank Cardimen and Vince Khapoya. Creating new friends and mentors like Julie Granthen who connected “seasoned” alums with new alums so that we now have an amazingly vast network of life-long family and friends. The amazing alums I’ve worked with over the years to ensure that current students had the same excellent opportunities we had.  Of course, I reserve the best for last. Without question, the course of my career was inspired and guided by the time I spent as a research assistant and teaching assistant to the Honorable G. Mennen Williams, former Governor of Michigan and Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court. He gave credence to the ideas of a young student, empowered me to tackle social issues larger than myself and to always persevere. We learned so much about leadership, life, public service, the law and creating a network of learned experts in other fields to support our missions and dreams.

Other interests/affiliations: MENSA member, attorney and counselor of the United States Supreme Court, FLL & Vex Robotics Coach, Golden Grizzlies Champions Club Advisory Board member, former Chair of the Oakland University Alumni Association.

Recipient of the OUAA Distinguished Alumni Service Award & the OUAA Spirit Award.
