K-12 Music Education
The Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.) in Music Education is an innovative K-12 program that provides the student with a strong foundation for teaching elementary and secondary general music, as well as band, choir, and orchestra in elementary, middle, and high schools. Students who choose the B.Mus. in Music Ed. are not required to elect a content area minor.

Through coursework, fieldwork, and internship experiences, students learn innovative principles and practices that apply across a variety of educational settings, preparing them to meet future professional challenges. Our graduates enter the profession with the best possible preparation for success.

To be admitted to music education at Oakland University, students must successfully pass an audition at one of the Audition Days. Visit oakland.edu/mtd and click on the “Auditions” link for Audition Day details.

See detailed information on what you can teach with your major/minor.
