Below are resources for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC). For additional information, visit the MTTC website
MTTC Professional Readiness Examination (PRE)
The PRE consists of three subarea tests - mathematics, reading, and writing. These tests include multiple-choice questions, while the writing test adds two written constructed-response questions. You must pass each of the subarea tests to pass the PRE in full but may retake any of the subarea tests that you do not pass.
Michigan Department of Education is now accepting ACT or Michigan Merit Exam (MME) subarea test scores to satisfy the related PRE subarea test requirements. Pass score equivalencies are listed below.
A combination of PRE, ACT, and MME scores may be used to meet the requirement. In addition, Michigan Department of Education has developed PRE Pass Score Alternatives. The passing score for each standard PRE subarea test is 220. If a candidate has met or exceeded the passing score on two of the three PRE subtests, and meets or exceeds the Alternative Score on the third PRE subtest according to this table
, the candidate shall be considered to have passed the PRE as a whole. Please contact a SEHS adviser at email@example.com
for more information about PRE alternatives.
