  Master in Teaching with Elementary Certification
Grades K-8, part-time program

OU's Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with elementary teacher certification is designed for career changers and individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than Education. The program is offered in Macomb and Oakland Counties.

Courses are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays except for the final semester, which is a 12-week student teaching internship. Students may earn a master's degree in teaching and elementary teacher certification in two years.

Master in Teaching with Secondary Certification
Grades 6 - 12, part-time program

The Master of Arts In Teaching (MAT) program with secondary teacher certification is a 20-month to certification, part-time program designed for individuals who already have a bachelor's degree and wish to become certified to teach middle or high school.

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship for Professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

  Noyce Scholars Master in Teaching with Secondary Certification
Grades 6 - 12, full-time program
 Apply by January 16 for the May 2012 program!

An innovative grant program through the National Science Foundation for STEM Professionals to become certified 6-12 grade science and math teachers, the Noyce MAT is a 13-month, full-time scholarship program in partnership with the Avondale, Hazel Park and Oak Park School Districts. It is an excellent opportunity for career changers in the STEM fields.

OU Noyce Teaching Scholarship recipients will be able to complete the courses and internship requirements through full-time studies for teacher certification. Completing two additional courses results in a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Visit the Noyce Scholars program site.
