Consider the possibilities of where your path can lead you. Early exploration is a great way to begin trying new things and figuring out what you do and don't like.

Meet with the Career and Life Design Center:
Current students visiting for the first time can drop-in to the Career Studio*, no appointment needed. *SECS students will meet with their Career and Life Design Coaches first.

Exploration Tools:

  • Focus2
    • Focus2 OU encourages self-discovery and provides a path to the right major and occupations that best fit your interests and skills. Explore fun self-assessments focused on work, values, personality, skills and leisure. Your combined results provide a plan for you to follow as you find what areas of interest are your best fit. The results of each assessment allow you to browse careers and OU majors that best align with you. After you complete the assessments, we highly encourage you to speak with a Career and Life Design Coach to evaluate your results.
  • O*NET
    • O*NET is a public platform that houses detailed occupational information for different industries. This interactive application allows students, alumni and professionals alike to explore different careers.
  • What Can I Do With My Major?
    • Whether you’re exploring majors or searching for information about your chosen field, this website will help you connect majors to careers. Learn about typical career areas and types of employers that hire students of certain majors, as well as strategies to make you a strong, marketable candidate.
  • Informational Interviewing
    • Informational interviewing is the process of identifying professionals in a field of interest and gaining insight from their experience. Students and alumni will learn about different career paths, build confidence while speaking with professionals, and identify potential mentors or referrals while making important connections with those in the field. Establishing a professional network is key. Meet with the Career and Life Design Center to develop a strategy for your informational interviewing journey.
  • LinkedIn Alumni Tool
    • Curious about what your fellow Golden Grizzlies are up to in their careers? Check out LinkedIn’s Alumni Tool. This is a great way to learn more about how OU students and graduates are leveraging their degrees and the steps they have taken in their personal journeys. Explore insights detailing where Golden Grizzlies are working, what industries they are in, what degrees they earned, and more. The Alumni Tool is also perfect for identifying professionals for informational interviewing and networking.
