Scott MacDonald ('02) is the current Director of Athletic Communications at Oakland University. He served as assistant director of athletic communication at North Carolina (2002-03) and Georgia Tech (2003-07).
Jessica Newman ('09) has accepted an adjunct teaching position in American Government at Oakland Community College, Auburn Hills Campus. She is also serving as Faculty Adviser for the Oakland to Oakland Health Walk Committee. Oakland to Oakland is a collaborative effort with students of Oakland Community College and Oakland University to benefit the Burnstein Community Health Clinic.
Current professor of PA 524 and OU alum Joseph Rozell ('02) received his Certified Elections and Registration Administrator (CERA) certification through the National Association of Election Officials and Auburn University. He is currently the Director of Elections for Oakland County.
Solaf Matti ('11) has accepted an Admissions Counselor position with Lawrence Technological University.
Laura Schovan ('11) has accepted the Financial Analyst position with the College of Arts & Sciences at Oakland University.
Jonathan Marshall ('10) recently accepted a position as an Assistant Implementer with Motor Consultants of America in Flint, MI.
Michael Solaka ('82) worked as the President of the New Center Council in Detroit, MI, from 1998 until January 2011. Solaka now works for Henry Ford Health Systems as Vice President of Business Strategies.
Amber McCann ('06) will now be serving as the Senate GOP caucus spokeswoman as well as the Press Secretary for the Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville.
Holly Reed ('10) has recently accepted a position at the Oakland University School of Medicine. Her new job title is "Curriculum Program Administrator."
Joseph Ferrari ('08) was awarded the Professional Recognition in Municipal Excellence (PRIME) Award by the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association at their annual conference. This award is presented annually to one individual who demonstrates outstanding service in his or her profession.
Derek Delacourt ('14) has accepted the Planning and Economic Development Director position with the City of Ferndale.
Pi Alpha Alpha Winter 2012 and Fall 2012 Inductees
Angela Wilhem was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha for the Winter 2012 semester. Deborah Cox, James Kaminski, Hava Leichtman, Daniel Martin, and Rachael Williams met the national requirements for the public administration honor society for Fall 2012.
MPA alum Tom Tanghe Receives Award from Michigan Local Government Management Association
The city of Auburn Hills announces Assistant City Manager Tom Tanghe has received the 2010 Excellence in Management Award from the Michigan Local Government Management Association (MLGMA). The award was presented to Mr. Tanghe at the MGLMA's Annual Winter Conference in Detroit... Mr. Tanghe was recognized for his achievements in general management, the Auburn Hills internship program, real estate activities including increased efforts in Downtown Auburn Hills, his role in human resources and labor relations, his work as Vice Chairman of the Michigan Local Government Benchmarking Consortium, and his active participation at the State level with the Michigan Municipal League in Public Act 312 reform efforts.
