Performance Review Process for MEA/NEA Employees

This performance review process is for Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades (OUCMT) employees and Oakland University Professional Support Association (OUPSA) employees.

The Performance Review Process was created to encourage dialogue between employees and supervisors. This process will serve as a tool for enhancing job effectiveness, progress and growth. In addition, the review process will foster mutual understanding of job requirements and employee contributions, lend insight into what motivates optimal performance, and provide an opportunity for feedback regarding development and other career interests.

MEA/NEA employees will now be utilizing the new Cornerstone system for the Performance Review Process as well as new hires for their two, four, and six-month reviews.


Timeline for Review of Performance
By January 28, 2022
  • Supervisor completes the review form in the Cornerstone system.
By February 10, 2022
  • Supervisor schedules and conducts review meeting with employee.
By February 18, 2022
  • Employee completes, comments and acknowledges review.

What is the performance cycle?

The performance cycle is based on the calendar year. Performance reviews will be communicated via email by HR and should be conducted during the month of January for the previous calendar year. 


Where is the link to the review system?


The Cornerstone link is accessible under Helpful Resources on the right-hand side of the screen.

Employees are now using the new Cornerstone system for performance reviews.

Why can’t I see the review?

Visit Cornerstone to access the employee's review. The review will not be available to the employee until the supervisor completes the annual performance meeting with them. Please contact yourlearning@oakland.edu if you need assistance or clarification.

My job changed during the year. What happens now?

If you changed jobs after October 1st, the review is optional, recognizing that there is a learning curve for those transferring or being promoted to a different position. If your position was reclassified to a different level, the review should still be completed. It is recommended that the reviewer and the employee have a discussion on performance expectations so that there are no surprises at the end of the year.

My supervisor changed during the year. What happens now?

Typically, a performance review will need to be completed. Depending on the circumstances, a review may or may not need to be completed (ex. Is supervisor still on campus? How long has employee worked for new supervisor?). Discussion should take place with HR.
