Employee Groups
The following employee groups are available at Oakland University:

AP Assembly
The AP Assembly is a professional organization comprised of all Administrative Professionals on campus. They serve in an advising capacity to the university president; have representation on the University Senate, as well as various Senate committees; provide opportunities for connection with their five committees (Recognition, Communications, Community Engagement, Personal and Professional Development, and Voice of the AP); and strive to develop community across campus.

AP Association
The Association provides a means of communication between all Administrative Professional employees and the University as employer in matters concerning wages, hours, and working conditions.

Women in Science, Engineering, and Research (WISER)
Women in Science, Engineering, and Research (WISER) focuses on recruitment, retention, and career development of faculty. Their impact and programming incorporate disciplines across campus.

Michigan ACE Women’s Network – Oakland University Chapter
The Michigan ACE Women’s Network is committed to identifying, developing the leadership of, advancing, and supporting the retention of women in higher education throughout the state. This is open to all OU faculty and staff.

Employee Resource Groups:
Employee resource groups are voluntary, employee-led groups made up of individuals who join together based on common interests, backgrounds or demographic factors such as gender, race or ethnicity. The following employee resource groups are available at Oakland University: 

Black Employee Resource Group (BERG)
BERG fosters a sense of belonging by leading efforts to connect underrepresented voices within OU to the broader campus community by professional and career development, staff and faculty mentoring, and community and alumni engagement.

Foreign Employee Resource Group (FERG)
The FERG is a volunteer-based organization with the sole purpose of supporting foreign employees at Oakland University. We exist to form a community for foreign employees, to offer a space of belonging and to enhance members’ well-being at OU.

Latinx Employee Resource Group
The Latinx Employee Resource Group advocates for and supports Latinx and Latin American staff, faculty, and students. For more information, please contact the group’s president, John Corso Esquivel, at corso@oakland.edu, or the group’s secretary, Rebecca Mercado Jones, at rebeccajones@oakland.edu.

LGBTQIA Employee Resource Group (LGBTQIA-ERG)
The LGBTQIA Employee Resource Group serves to foster an inclusive, open campus community, advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and allied people. The LGBTQIA ERG consists of LGBTQI individuals and allies interested in LGBTQIA issues for employees (administrators, staff, and faculty) at Oakland University.

Women Employee Resource Group (WERG)
The Women Employee Resource Group provides a support system, advocacy, and resources for women employees of Oakland University and empowers them by providing support, intentional programs, resources, and advocacy.
