Welcome! Congratulations on your new job at Oakland University! During your first weeks and months at OU, there will be much to learn, so you may wish to review some of this important information prior to your orientation.
New Hire Orientation
New Hire Orientation is held at 8:30 a.m. every Monday in the University Human Resources Department, which is located in 430 Wilson Hall (Building 14 on the Campus Map). In the event that Monday is a holiday, orientation will be moved to Tuesday. All new employees are required to attend.
Note: You enter Wilson Hall on the 2nd floor, and the office is on the 4th floor. This meeting will take approximately an hour if you have everything that you need. Make sure you allow time for parking.
Before Your Orientation:
You will save yourself some time and stress if you complete the forms as instructed in your Welcome to OU email. These forms are also located here:
Make sure you complete the forms, print them out, and bring all pages with you to your orientation.
In addition, you MUST bring:
What you will do:
Identification and employment eligibility documents - (Please see the last page of the I-9 document for acceptable types of identification)
Social security card - We will need to see your original social security card to verify that we
are entering your name onto our payroll records exactly as you are
known by the IRS.
Banking information for direct deposit - We need either a voided check or a letter from your bank on their
letterhead with your name, account number and routing number.
New employees will turn in employment forms, learn about OU services and perks, sign up for payroll direct deposit, and receive their Grizzly ID number, information about their OU Spirit Card, and benefits packet.

You will be receiving a Benefits packet on your first day. You will be scheduled for a Benefits Orientation. The information is also available online at the Faculty and Staff Benefits website.
Orientations to your new department will vary depending upon the type of work you will be performing. Orientations may include a tour of the campus including buildings, departments and university personnel with which you will have interaction, familiarization with Administrative Policies and Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety regulations and other emergency procedures. Your supervisor will have access to the new hire checklist to guide them with your department orientation. Please contact your supervisor for additional information.
