Human Trafficking Talk

Dr. Cherie Sammis is a Nurse Practitioner and Director of Ethics Integration at Ascension Health. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience identifying and working with human trafficking victims. Dr. Sammis will teach us how to recognize human trafficking victims as medical providers, how to safely approach a suspected human trafficking situation, and share her personal encounters.  In 2018, 5,147 human trafficking cases were reported nationally and 176 cases were reported in Michigan. This information will be extremely valuable to us as future physicians, regardless of specialty or geographical location.
