Oakland University’s School of Nursing will present the 32nd Annual Nightingale Awards for Excellence Celebration on May 12, 2020 at The San Marino Club in Troy, MI.
This year’s event celebrates the 200th birthday of Florence Nightingale, and the International Year of the Nurse! This honored tradition is more than just a night of professional awards, it is an opportunity to come together to honor those nurses who pursue excellence without compromise.
Nominations for the People’s Choice Award are now being accepted. Nominate a nurse today if you know of a notable nurse who has greatly impacted the life of a patient, friend or family member by going above and beyond during the caregiving process. Submit a nomination by going to Oakland University, School of Nursing website and click on the Nightingale Nomination form through February 6, 2020. Award winners receive $1,000, a solid bronze statue of Florence Nightingale, and a commemorative pin.
In addition to presenting the Nightingale Awards, this year Oakland University is creating the Nightingale Legacy Scholarship in honor of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. This scholarship, which will be unveiled the night of the event, will be awarded annually to a nursing student who demonstrates the pioneer spirit that shaped Florence Nightingale’s legacy. Anybody can become a founding member of the Nightingale Legacy Scholarship, with a gift of any amount. All donations will help to invest in the future of nursing.
