New and returning students can be a part of OU’s vibrant campus residential community in just a few simple steps.
Current and Transfer Students
Current students and incoming transfer students who plan to live on campus for the fall 2025-winter 2026 academic year may submit housing contracts starting February 1, 2025. Students can submit their contracts at oakland.edu/housing/contract.
Current students and incoming transfer students who submit fall 2025-winter 2026 contracts during the priority period of February 1-March 1, 2025 will be eligible to participate in the roommate matching and room selection processes.
Students who submit a contract on or before March 1 will be assigned a priority number (based on credit hours earned) that determines the date and time they may select a room. They will receive their priority number March 18 via their oakland.edu email.
Roommate matching can be beneficial in that the member of the matched pair or group with the most favorable priority number can select a room for all students in the matched pair or group. Students may select up to three other students as preferred roommates. Those who choose not to roommate match may still participate in the room selection process as an individual.
The roommate matching period for current students is March 11-31 and the room selection period is March 19-31.
Current and incoming students may also continue to submit fall 2025-winter 2026 housing contracts after March 1, throughout the winter and summer semesters, as desired.

First Time In Any College Students
First Time In Any College (FTIAC) students who plan to live on campus for the fall 2025-winter 2026 academic year may submit housing contracts throughout the winter and summer semesters. Students can submit their contracts at oakland.edu/housing/contract.
The FTIAC roommate matching period takes place June 1-June 30, 2025. FTIAC students are assigned to a location in early July based on the building preferences listed on their housing contracts.
Living Learning Communities and Academic Support
- Three Living Learning Communities will be available during the 2025-26 academic year, including a Business Honors community, a LGBTQIA community, and an intersectional community for underrepresented minority (URM) students.
- University Housing provides academic support for residents through a partnership with the Academic Success Center, including one-on-one meetings with professional staff.
