Dr. Judi Fouladbakhsh, a nurse researcher at Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan) is seeking participants for her study exploring self-treatment of pain among women who have had Estrogen-receptor positive (ER+) breast cancer (age 21+) who report pain.
Participants will receive 12-weeks of free (one-hour, one time per week) classes in Qigong/Taiji offered online by the Center for Taiji Studies. Participants will also complete questionnaires, practice at home, and connect by phone/text/email with Dr.Judi and her study team.
This research will help determine the effects of Qigong/Taiji as compared with yoga therapy and usual care on pain, stress, sleep and quality of life, and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each week for 12-weeks, and at 2 follow-up online meetings.
Participation is voluntary and all information is confidential, as approved by the university IRB. This study is funded by BCBS Foundation of Michigan, and provides a free yoga/tai chi mat and a $70 gift card upon completion.
