DATING VIOLENCE/SEXUAL ASSAULT INFORMATION

If you are the victim of an assault:

  • Seek medical attention as needed.
  • Report the incident to the OUPD as soon as possible.

To help reduce the risk of an assault:

  • Disengage from conflict whenever possible and get to a place of safety.
  • Report any and all suspicious activity to police as soon as you are aware of it.
  • Consent is an active agreement to participate. If someone says no, it means no. If someone is silent, it does not mean yes.
  • If you or someone you know has been a victim of a crime, please consider reaching out to resources available both on and off campus. More information can be found on the OUPD web section.
  • The SAFEwalk program provides a visual escort while you are walking on campus. To request a SAFEwalk escort, call OU Police at (248) 370-3331 and a Police Officer or Police Service Aide will respond to the area while you walk to your location.
  • Trust your instincts. If a situation or location feels unsafe or uncomfortable, it probably is not the best place to be.
