Oakland University and the Rose Hill Center adult mental health treatment facility have benefitted from a mutually beneficial partnership for roughly five years, and an upcoming fundraiser will help ensure that the expanding relationship can grow for many years to come.

The Hope in Motion 5K Walk Run Roll and Celebrate Event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, on Rose Hill Center’s 411-acre property in Holly, Mich. All are invited to register for free as individuals or team captains and to help raise funds to support the 33-year-old, non-profit therapy farming community, which serves roughly 100 residential clients per year.

Funds raised at this first annual event will support treatment and program costs for clients facing severe and persistent mental health issues. According to Director of Admissions Laura Goldie, Rose Hill Center is one of only five similar facilities in the country offering this unique therapeutic approach.

Over the last five years, the center has partnered with Oakland University’s Pawley Lean Institute and welcomed numerous lean engineering student interns who have worked with staff to create meaningful efficiencies in the program admissions process.

Ron Watson, Rose Hill Center Human Resources Chair and former OU Vice President for Human Resources, said the two entities are actively exploring possibilities for partnerships in additional fields including life and social sciences. “There’s still so many possibilities ahead of us,” he noted.

Rose Hill Center Director of Philanthropy Devon Meier said that many clients in need of services do not have the advantage of insurance coverage and struggle to meet private pay requirements. The 5k fundraiser will help offset their costs and ensure that they can receive the full continuum of care they need.

“This is house that philanthropy built, and our job is to ensure that this project has a very, very long future,” Meier said.
