Faculty and staff volunteers are being sought for the Fall 2025 New Student Welcome event, which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2.
As the official university welcome for all incoming freshmen, transfer, graduate, and international students, this long-standing tradition at Oakland marks the start of each student’s journey as a Golden Grizzly. Organizers are hoping that volunteers will help make this year’s event unforgettable.
More support than ever will be needed to ensure the event runs smoothly and continue to reflect the warmth and pride of OU. Volunteers will be needed in two capacities.
First, event volunteers will assist with various aspects of the program including check-in, directional support and general hospitality. Volunteer shift times range from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. All faculty and staff are welcome and those interested in helping can sign up here.
Second, volunteers can join the new, iconic Clap-In event from noon to 1 p.m. During this period, faculty, staff and student leaders will line up from the Elliott Tower to the O'Rena to "clap-in" new Grizzlies as they enter the New Student Welcome event. Those interested in this event can sign up here.
Volunteers for both events will help make a lasting, positive impact on new students. Organizers hope that collectively, volunteers will come together and show OU’s newest Grizzlies what OU pride is all about.
