Honors College Dean Graeme Harper and the Frances M. Moceri Scholar House Scholars invite all university community members to take part in a virtual panel discussion titled "Excellence in Community Service" designed to inspire meaningful and impactful community service.

The event will take place from 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16.

Harper hopes that a number of thoughtful questions will help discussion participants share even more provocative and helpful answers.

"We have all heard about "community service", but what does it mean to do it well?" he asked. "How can we improve our positive impact on others? In what ways can we develop community involvement to the benefit of all? What is excellence in community service?"

Leading the discussion will be four keynote panelists:

Sheilah Clay

  • Executive Director of Community Health Corps under the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development in the City of Detroit
  • Former President and CEO of Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO)

Heidi Magyar

  • Director of Corporate Giving, General Motors
  • Director of Community Outreach, General Motors
