University Technology Services (UTS) has enabled Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat for all users in the university domain.

Copilot Chat is an AI-powered assistant designed to help users find information, generate content, and streamline tasks through web-based sources and limited file uploads. All users now have free access to the basic version of the software. Users should note that this version does not include all features of the full product and does not provide access to organizational data such as emails, documents, or calendars.

To support the campus community, UTS has published a Knowledge Base (KB) article with instructions and guidance for using Copilot Chat. The KB is available here. Additional information about the platform can be found in the Microsoft Copilot Chat Overview.

Oakland University is currently in the process of developing an AI usage and security policy. In the meantime, campus community members are reminded to use AI tools in accordance with University Policy 860 and the AI Usage Guidelines.
