International Night 2013 to take on exotic look, thrills of a bazaar
By Katie Land, news editor

The savory aromas and exotic thrills of a Moroccan bazaar will transform Oakland University’s campus this spring, for the International Night 2013 celebration.

The annual event, set for 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 15, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms, will offer food, music, entertainment, fashion, and a variety of multicultural displays.

“We are very excited for this event, as it is the finale of the semester’s multicultural events and a great opportunity for different cultures to get together, work together, learn from one another, appreciate one another and put together this fun event,” said Petra Knoche, assistant director of the International Students and Scholars Office.

“This year’s theme is International Bazaar because we want people to experience the fun environment of a marketplace or bazaar where we will have different displays and hands-on activities, live music and performances, and food.”

This year’s theme, “International Bazaar,” arts and crafts, multicultural displays, entertainment and food samples from all over the world.

International Night 2013 is sponsored by the ISSO, Center for Student Activities, Albanian American Student Organization, Asian American Association, China Club, ESL Club at OU, French Club, German Club, Hispanic American Leadership Organization, International Allies Organization, Muslim Student Association, Nachale! Dance Team, Student Activities Funding Board, Street Dance Association, Students for Israel, and the Ukrainian Student Organization at OU.

The event is free and reservations are not required. To learn more about programs, events, and resources in Oakland’s International Students and Scholars Office, view the website at oakland.edu/isso.
