Philanthropic alumnus honored by fundraising organizationFor his dedication to leadership and service, Oakland University alumnus William Goldenberg, CAS ’70, will be recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Detroit Chapter during the 20th annual National Philanthropy Day Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center.
Goldenberg will be honored as a Distinguished Volunteer for helping inspire philanthropic action and community engagement in southeast Michigan. Over the years, he has supported the university by serving the College of Arts and Sciences as an active member of the Dean’s Campaign Council, CAS Ambassadors and the Judaic Studies Community Committee.
Beyond giving time and talent, Goldenberg and his wife have also established the William Goldenberg and Enid Bienstock International Student Education Endowment, which supports study abroad opportunities for students.
This year’s National Philanthropy Day Dinner is hosted by Henry Ford Health System and presented by Crain’s Detroit Business. National Philanthropy Day is observed by more than 200 AFP chapters across the country to recognize the contributions of individuals throughout the philanthropic community.
