Accounting, finance students honored at annual banquet
The Accounting & Finance Department within the School of Business Administration at Oakland University awarded 19 scholarships to Accounting and Finance students and welcomed new student organization leaders at its 31st Annual Accounting and Finance banquet in April.
The banquet, sponsored by the accounting student organizations of OASIS, Beta Alpha Psi and NABA, provided a great opportunity for students to celebrate their accomplishments while networking with future employers and alumni. This banquet is one of many annual events hosted by the accounting student organizations and the faculty of the accounting/finance department. Accounting firms, corporations, and alumni look forward to this annual spring where they support and host tables for our students who will be future accounting and finance professionals.
More than 120 people attended the event where Scott Bittinger, ACC ’88, was recognized as Beta Alpha Psi’s Business Information Professional of the Year and provided an inspiring message to the students as the keynote speaker. Bittinger was OU’s first-ever all-American in men’s basketball and now serves as the Director of Internal Audit at American Axle and Manufacturing in Detroit. Dean Mazzeo of the School of Business Administration shared an update on the accounting program and school.
