Dance

Our next NASD (National Association of Schools of Dance) site visit will be deferred due to the OU Varner Hall renovation. We are seeking a two-year deferment but approval will not be received until the annual NASD Conference, which takes place in September 2021. If all goes according to plan, our next NASD visit will take place in Fall of 2024.

Chemistry

ACS (American Chemical Society) – last visit (2016), next visit was scheduled for 2021. Due to the Covid situation we are not sure if there will be a visit in 2021, but we are continuing to work on renewing this professional accreditation in 2021.

Only the Masters in Public Administration is accredited. OU's Bachelor's of science program is not an accredited program. NASPAA (National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration) – last visit (2015), next visit (2022).

Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs were reviewed for accreditation in November 2020. Oakland University will receive formal accreditation notification from ABET in the Summer 2021.

Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) – last visit (2014), we will be notified later this summer when our next visit will take place.

Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) – last visit (2017), next visit (2023)

The Bioengineering Program recently completed a self-study report, which is a comprehensive assessment of status information. The report will be submitted to the ABET accreditation body on July 1, 2021. ABET will conduct a site visit during Fall 2021 to review our program and make a decision on granting accreditation. Since ABET accreditation has a retroactive period of two years, we anticipate all of the students who graduated last year and onwards under OU's new curriculum will have a degree granted under the umbrella of an accredited program.

We are accredited through December 31, 2023. Site visit may take place between September and December 2023 with a preliminary self-study due between April and July 2023.

  • The Post Master's Certificate programs for the Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Geri Practitioner and Nurse Anesthetists. Accredited 2017 through 2027.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice program and the post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Oakland University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ( http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

The Oakland University-Beaumont Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). MICHIGAN STATE BOARD OF NURSING – pre-licensure (Baccalaureate) programs also require approval by the State Board of Nursing. We received that approval in 2015, which is good until our next CCNE visit in Spring 2022.
