Elizabeth Rowin
, violinist, enjoys a versatile career as a teacher and performer. She is on the faculty at Oakland University, where she teaches violin and directs the chamber music program. She has given violin and chamber music master classes at the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Michigan Tech University and the Flint Institute of Music, among others.

Ms. Rowin plays in the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra and serves as Concertmaster at the Fisher Theater and at the Motor City Symphony Orchestra. An avid performer of chamber music, she plays frequently with Chamber Music at the Scarab Club and at Oakland University, and she has appeared in recital throughout the metropolitan Detroit area in venues such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Cranbrook Art Museum, the Henry Ford Estate, Kerrytown Concert House and the Detroit Public Library.

As a soloist, Ms. Rowin premiered and recorded Karl Boelter’s Concerto for Violin (a piece written for her) on the Albany Record label with Paul Freeman and the Czech National Symphony. She also gave the national premiere of Nicolas Bacri’s Une Priere for Violin & Orchestra with the Oakland Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Rowin has been heard on National Public Radio, both as the soloist in the Boelter Violin Concerto and as a member of the Muse String Quartet, which was nominated for a Detroit Music Award.

Ms. Rowin received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Mannes College of Music and was awarded a fellowship to the University of Michigan, where she received the Specialist Degree in Violin Performance. Her teachers include Michael Avsharian, Ani Kavafian, Shirley Givens, Paul Kantor, and Felix Galimir.
